Rachael Young. UKCP Psychotherapist/Counselling and Psychotherapy

DSCN0143.jpg

I am an accredited UKCP Psychotherapist, which means that I am a fully qualified member of the UK Council for Psychotherapy. I work within their ethical framework and I am committed to ongoing professional development.

My aim for every individual client or couple is that you move away from what you don’t want and towards what you do in the easiest and quickest way.

On an individual basis, I have probably spent several thousands of hours now working with clients who have low mood and/or anxiety and can confidently say, irrespective of how long you may have had this for, you can change it if you have the seeds of an open mind and stick with the process of therapy.

From a couples perspective, I most commonly see couples struggling with affairs, communication breakdowns and sexual problems; with a commitment to the relationship, the therapy process and an open mind, my experience is that these issues can be overcome to develop a much stronger and enjoyable relationship.

Our initial session will be outcome focused to understand very specifically what's going on and what you want to change and then I tailor my approach to your unique needs, drawing from different models of psychotherapy where applicable. I will give you stuff to do in between sessions if I think it will get you to where you want to be faster.

My clients regularly feedback that they enjoy the process of learning about themselves and making long lasting changes that they perhaps didn’t think were possible in the beginning.

My colleagues say that they hear a lot of laughing from my room. The hardest thing is to make the first contact to get help and then we can work together to change what you want (it might be a lot easier that you think).

Training, qualifications & experience

My psychotherapy experience has been gained through interactive face-to-face training, extensive client practice with individuals and couples, personal psychotherapy and supported with monthly supervision.
